Although I read science fiction quite a lot as a middle schooler, I don't ordinarily don't read science fiction now. I downloaded this book free during a promotion over the holidays. This book is a middle book in a series, and I haven't read any of the other books. However, I had no problem reading this book as a stand alone novel.I think this is a great middle grade or young adult adventure book. This is a multi-generational story about a world caught in a conflict between two factions: the forces of science and progress, and a religious movement that seeks to maintain past traditions. The first half of the book is the back story created by the older generation, and the second half of the book is the final conflict between the members of the younger generation that occurs in a space training school, similar to that in Ender's Game. Interwoven with this conflict is another story about a group working secretly on time travel. It was a quick and engaging read that I recommended to my teenage son.

Ms. McCartha's books get better and better. Enjoyed this one. A fun bunch of characters going through training for Alysia's first space flight. The science is well-researched which makes the book engaging. Dialog is witty and the action doesn't stop. This book can be read by itself, but is particularly good as part of the series.
McCartha is a contrast to the gloom and doom SF that is so popular now. Her book is just a good old fashioned SF tale that reads a lot like an early Clark. Her characters live on an alternative to Earth called Alysia which, although similar to our 21st centenary world, has its own politics and intrigue. One gets the feeling that Alysia may be a lost Earth colony but McCartha is unclear about that. To be fair, with all the intrigue that's going on between disparate states trying to build a space program while dealing with aliens and terrorists makes that explanation unnecessary at best.
Complicated, twisting story line. Every turn brings another adventure. This book builds on the first novel in the series of a rich and well thought out and constructed universe.
Another good installment in the series. As I have read #5 its onto the next installment....well worth looking into, thank you.
Cosmic Entanglement brings excitement, suspense and is action packed. I loved the martial arts tournament with the sparring and challenge matches. McCartha captures the excitement and realism of a competitive martial arts tournament set in the future. Enemy of my enemy, government conspiracies, and space missions into the unknown make this book a 5 star!
I am a 13 year old boy, going into high school and an avid reader of fiction. I like to read the Harry Dresden series and the Insignia series, both about people able to do abnormal things. I have also read in the past the Eragon series, and Uther, both about medieval battles and medieval life.
This book shares most of the qualities of Star Trek and Ender’s Game. Akin to Enders game, most of the story takes place in a school, feirce with competition and rivalries. Comparable to Star Trek, this book contains manifold space explorations and ALIEN ENCOUNTERS.
It is an amazing book. I couldn’t stop reading it. Because of the cheesy title, I didn’t have high expectations, but it shocked me how much better it was than I had thought. It entertains the reader, though I was dissapointed in the ending.
I rated this quite high as far as my standards go. I really liked the smooth way the Author slid between the different sects and blended it all together. Anyone who enjoys a well written, well plotted story, should enjoy this first book in the series, after reading this story, they will be in a hurry to get to the next story. My thanks to the author for keeping me entertained!
